This is archived images and documentation video of the project ‘The Fault Line’ (2022), exhibited in the Campus Exhibition of Ars Electronica 2022, in Linz, Austria from Sep 6th - 11th, 2022 (click for more information).
The project takes fragments of the artist's family history from the founding of New China to the end of the 20th century, back to a hybrid space where a simulation of the actual environment and imagination of the missing archive are established. The audience is navigated through a ten-minute video and the rebuilt props in the physical installation space, it shows my practice as a resistance to the disconnect of memory between generations and attempts to discuss the missing archive not as an absence but as a presence that can be examined.
All the images and video footages captured and edited by Yili Zhao. For more project information please see ‘The Fault Line’ (2022).
